Freelance Club expresses trust through four independent signals — never a single numeric "level." Each one means something different, and none substitutes for another.
Wallet Trust
An automatic, algorithmically computed score. It may reflect:
- wallet age;
- successful orders;
- completed transactions;
- dispute history;
- activity on the platform;
- GitHub;
- LinkedIn;
- company website;
- company domain.
Wallet Trust is computed from your actual history, not something you declare about yourself, and it is not a substitute for Identity Verification.
Identity Verification
A separate, discrete status: Not Verified, Pending, or Verified. Handled through Sumsub, the current identity-verification provider. Independent of Wallet Trust — a high Wallet Trust score does not make you "Verified," and being Verified does not itself raise your Wallet Trust score.
Business Verification
Employer-specific. Based on signals such as company domain, website, and LinkedIn presence, and shown to other Users as a Verified Business badge. Independent of, and does not imply, an individual's Identity Verification status.
Financial Assurance
A separate component from the three above — not a form of identity or business verification. Examples include an Escrow Deposit (tied to a specific order) or a Security Deposit (a general, optional commitment). Financial Assurance signals that a User has something at stake; it does not verify who they are or that their business is genuine.
How these signals work together
Before working with someone, you can look at all four independently: does their Wallet Trust reflect a real history on the platform? Are they Identity Verified? (For an employer:) Are they a Verified Business? Have they committed any Financial Assurance? None of these signals is designed to stand in for another, and none of them is collapsed into a single score or tier — you're meant to weigh them together, the way you'd weigh several separate references rather than a single grade.
A note on older terminology
Some earlier internal planning documents describe verification using numbered levels ("L1", "L2", "L3"). That model is superseded. Freelance Club's user-facing verification model is the four independent components described above — if you see anything describing verification as a single numbered level, it reflects outdated planning material, not the current or approved model.
